Mirroring the latest factory tours ideas from JLR, where the members of Cannock Chase Probus Club were one of the first outside groups to go on a behind the scenes tour of the £500 million JLR Engine Manufacturing Centre off the M54 at the i54 site, near Wolverhampton - Made in the Midlands members, Salop Design & Engineering Ltd, were running their very own mission to engage with outside groups.
Its always busy at the Shrewsbury manufacturing site, but it was even busier yesterday, as they had a group visit from the local Rotary Club. They were greeted by the Commercial Director, Christopher Greenough, who talked them through the history of Salop Design and the vision for the future of the company.
They engaged in a question and answer session, that involved such topics as training, apprenticeships, the state of the UK economy and even the Europe In / Out debate.
They were then treated to a tour of the facilities, the metal pressings side, the powder coating lines and the new training centre.
Christopher said, This is a fantastic way for us to interact with the local community, and we need to see more companies opening their doors and promoting the great businesses we have here in the Shropshire.
There was such enthusiasm today, and the Q&A was really interesting, being able to talk about key matters affecting Shropshire business.
